Myofascial Release

Carol Moore RMT was taught myofascial release by an osteopath by the name of Barry Jenings.  She spent many days with him learning the importance of releasing the fascial tissue not only in areas of isolation but also the whole body effect and treatment of posture, hence the name of his course "Structural Integration".

First of all;  What is fascia? 

What does water have to do with it?  Are we aging or simply drying out?   Lets look at fascia magnified 25X
 Unhealthy or binded fascia is dehydrated.  This is why after a treatment, clients are required to drink water.  The fascia has reabsorbed water and if we do not hydrate, our body will ask for the water back again, so drink up!

What is Advanced Myofascial Structural Integration Therapy?  It is an extensive posture realignment improvement program. This is a serious commitment both in time and personal investment in yourself.  We believe your body is worth investing in.

What is Posture Alignment Therapy?

  • 10 sessions that are 30 to 45 minutes in length
  • Each of the sessions will focus on a specific area of your body and using myofascial release techniques and stretching.
  • Scheduled one to two weeks apart

After each session, you receive home care to maintain postural changes.

This is the focus of each of the 10 posture therapy sessions.

  1. Respiration - shoulders, neck, ribs, diaphragm muscles
  2. feet
  3. hips
  4. inner legs and balance
  5. abdominal
  6. low back
  7. jaw area and neck
  8. pelvis/hips
  9. shoulders/neck/arms
  10. Connection or integration of all areas

Do the sessions need to be done in this order?  Yes and no.  These sessions have been developed and tested by Ida Rolf http://www.rolf.org/ and yes, the order is to be maintained but the structural integration courses teach the therapist when and why to move strategically within the systemic approach to the body achieve the desired outcome.  Also the techniques used have been changed throughout the years to "soften" the techniques. Can I have only certain areas treated?  Absolutely, if the goal is to treat a specific symptom where by the cause is myofascial binding, however, postural issues truly only have significant and lasting changes through the structural integration therapy because as demonstrated in the fascia video, fascia has no origin or insertion and fiber direction as a muscle would have.  Each muscle fiber, muscle, organ, your body as a whole is wrapped in fascia.  It must be treated systemically with the whole body in mind for postural changes.
